Review by The Prodigy Fanboy:
It’s been since 2010 when The Prodigy last toured Australia with the boys retuning this year for the Future Music Festival. The band have been busy working on new tracks for their 6th studio album release. Looking back at their backlog, I have no idea what and how the boys would put together a set list of old and new or the big gig tonight in Sydney. Boy we were in for a show!
There it is, the Warriors Dance stage. Looking fresh and massive, the circus lights with the ‘Welcome to the Scene of the Crash’ backdrop. Fans couldn’t wait until The Prodigy came out on stage. Everybody I had asked throughout the day, ‘who are you here to see tonight?’ The answers were unanimous, The Prodigy!
Lights out, the new intro drops. You can feel the excitement in the air, the fans are buzzing. A huge uproar from the crowd as The Prodigy enter the stage. It is massive, everybody in Sydney was ready to party hard.
To everyone’s surprise, Voodoo People is the first track on the set! The ultimate party track drops and you could tell The Prodigy were here to party as well. Voodoo People sends the crowd into a frenzy, with Maxim shouting ‘all my party people!’ sending the crowd into madness. An amazing opening by the boys.
Next on the set? Jetfighter! Australians finally got their taste on the new tracks and boy was it massive. The track sounds so fresh and raw. I was shouting the lyrics ‘Jet fighter, jet breaker. Celebrate the noisemaker’. It’s one of those tracks you can throw so much passion behind the lyrics and then go into a ‘free for all’ when the beats kick in. The crowd applause as the track ends, welcoming to the new sound.
Aussie favorite Breathe kicks in next. It was incredible as the whole crowd at the Warriors Stage exploded. Everyone was dancing and singing all united as a group. It was a hair-raising experience!
Omen, Poison, Thunder Dub all followed up Into another new track, AWOL. Its got catchy lyrics with the sound of Invaders Must Die era to it. It has everyone intrigued with the new sound just like Jetfighter. It’s got the fans dancing on it’s first ever play in Sydney!
Azealia Banks joined Keith Flint on stage for Firestarter. This duo put Firestarter into another level! It’s intense, loud and powerful.  A very welcoming surprise by Banks. Firestarter leading into it’s best follow up Run with the Wolves.  One word, insane!
A quiet moment with Liam behind his set. A much needed rest for the crowd, led into Worlds on Fire, Maxim and his vibe put the fans back in to party mode! All hell brakes loose as Spitfast drops. A massive ‘circle of death’ goes into chaos. There is nothing stopping the crowd from going completely mental on this one!
Omen Reprise, Invaders Must Die leading into the biggest surprise of the night, Break and Enter! A moment not to be forgotten. It felt like it was 1994 again and everybody is moving their body freely to the beats. It’s so refreshing, a feel good moment. Made the fans feel like we were part of something very special.  This had everyone buzzing after the night ended.
Smack My Bitch Up with its now famous ‘Smack Jump’ is as always, brilliant and memorable.  The encore included Take Me To The Hospital, Their Law, Hyperspeed and Out of Space. Hyperspeed went down hard! Old school rave at it’s best.
All in all, it was a very special night. Some fans who attended The Prodigy’s milestone gig at Milton Keynes said Sydney was right up there. The set list is so solid and truly perfect. It cannot get any better. The Prodigy always prove why they are the best live act of all time.
Their music and live shows are life changing and a moment you’ll never forget. It’s something everyone has to experience.
